Before Phebe's was Phebe's...

...it was the "Old Landmark Restaurant & Bar." This establishment existed on the Bowery over 100 years ago. It was owned and operated by J&S Princiotto. Not too long ago the Princiotto family stopped into Phebe's for a burger and a beer and shared stories from the good old days. We thank Matty Princotto for the photos below. If you look closely at the photo on the bottom left you will see the "Business Mens Lunch: for 40 cents you get tomato juice, soup and a roast."

Phebe's in the 70's

Phebe's in the 70's was just like NYC at that time — a little bit gritty. The big front windows had been bricked up, and the establishment was a little 'cozier'. But it was still your neighborhood pub, the place you'd go to hang out with friends.

Phebe's Today

Today, those big, front windows are back, and even better — they're floor-to-ceiling, with pub tables so people can sit in the sun. We love to open them up on nice days, so everyone can enjoy NYC passing by. Phebe's is warm and inviting, with hardwood floors, exposed brick and beams, the original turn-of-the-century bar, and even a private room for parties. We hope you make Phebe's your neighborhood place!
